Save your TOMS
I bought my first pair of TOMS last October. We had a hot dog stand at my parent's garage sale and I used my cash to buy my coveted Snow Leopard TOMS. I wore them everyday for 5 months and was appalled to find holes wearing in each of the toes. In an effort to fix them I sewed a few stitches in each toe. This was a temporary fix, so I was thrilled when I found these adhesive patches at Jo-Ann's in the patches/notion section.
They come in khaki, denim and black. The tan color was perfect to patch my TOMS because I knew the patch would show through a little bit. It was so easy to cut a 1"x1" piece, remove the adhesive backing and stick it up inside the toe. Just beware to get the patch stuck in smoothly without any bumps or wrinkles.
I got new black TOMS this week for my birthday and guess what my first move was? Patch the toes. I wish I had patched my first toes before even wearing them and prevented the holes.
My original patched TOMS are still going strong 5 months later. Whether they are new or old, patch your TOMS from the inside- you will be glad you did later!
Great idea! I love my shoes & always get so sad when I find they are ruined. Thanks for the tip!
ReplyDeleteI was just noticing some wear on my black pair, but it is the heal right above the sole. Two small holes have appeared. I can tell the toe will go eventually. Thanks for the tip!
ReplyDeleteWhat great advice! And I totally forgot about how much I wanted the snow leopard pair!
ReplyDeleteThis is genius! I have the lace ones so I can't do that. But I also don't wear them as much as a normal pair. I will definitely be doing this when I get another pair.
