Wear Now AND Later- Booties for All Seasons

As I've learned more and more about my personal style I've discovered that I love having a closet filled with just the right basics. It makes getting dressed so much easier! I've had questions from readers about my personal list of "basics" or a capsule wardrobe and that is definitely a post that will take some thought, but I'd like to start working on it for you. Until then, I do and will try to give you a heads up when something is a staple in my mind. 

Today's outfit is both- it's a mix of simple staples and statement pieces. The jacket? It's definitely a statement/trend piece. I'll be thrilled when I can wear it, but it won't be everyday. 

The rest of it though? Great capsule-worthy items. A basic white tee is of course a classic. And distressed denim has been one of my staples for years. Black booties? Yep, a staple item. Have I ever found a pair that I loved though? Not really. Black boots have always been tough for me. For some reason I can buy tan and gray and brown booties all day long, but I have struggled to find and love a black pair. 

When I headed to shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale this year, black boots were on my list. I wanted to find a pair I loved. Because I literally didn't own any. I have tall black boots, OTK black boots and I've owned numerous ankle boots in the past but I've sold them all over time. I never reached for them so they found new owners. 

I tried on several pairs and this pair didn't jump out at me until I put them on. I first tried them on in gray which you can see below. The lighter colors do make the cool details easier to see. 

But when I tried on the black I was sold. They lengthen the leg by showing your toes and having the great cut-out on the side and back. I shared this photo on FB and so many of you said the same thing. Several women asked if these can be worn in the Winter too and my answer is yes! I wouldn't go tromping through snow in them, but they are definitely still enough of a boot to get you through Winter. I'll be wearing them! 

How do they fit? I would say TTS. These are an 8.5 which is my normal size and they are a perfect fit on me. Some reviews say size up a half size so you may want to order two sizes and take advantage of free shipping both ways to try them on first. The heel is 4" but the angle is really comfortable and they do not feel that tall. 

I always think it's helpful to see how to wear something several ways before you commit to buying it so here are a few other ways I've worn these booties recently. They really dress up and down so easily.

I've also worn these with skirts, a black body con dress and black denim! If black isn't your color they do come in beige and gray as well. Thankfully most colors and sizes are still fully stocked and these are under $100 right now.
