Celebrating The First Snow

This post is brought to you by Abercrombie Kids. While this was a sponsored opportunity, all content and opinions expressed here are my own.

One of the things I love about where we live is that we definitely have all four seasons. Fall was beautiful in Missouri this year and this week the weather has been rapidly transitioning into Winter! We had our first snow of the season and even though there wasn't enough to make a snowman- we still all felt like celebrating! Today I'm partnering with Abercrombie Kids to share some of our favorite cozy clothes and our easy after-school treat! Plus today get 20% off of your entire purchase at Abercrombie Kids

OLM Celebrating the First Snow - Kilee Nickels

We were all surprised to wake up to snow this early in November and when it came time to get dressed the boys were looking for long sleeves, hats and gloves! They were more than ready to wear their new hoodies, joggers and beanies from Abercrombie Kids. They were warm and looked cute too! I knew that after school they would all rush in the door cold and ready for a snack so I decided to plan ahead a little and have something ready.

I'm all about keeping things simple, but also special. My boys love hot chocolate and it's our treat of choice when it's cold. Usually we just do hot chocolate and maybe a few mini marshmallows, but adding a few new ingredients felt like a fun way to surprise the boys.

OLM Hot Chocolate Bar

For our hot chocolate bar I grabbed:
-Santa mugs
-Individual hot chocolate packets
-Chocolate dipped stirring spoons
-Peppermint marshmallows
-Whipped cream

Other ideas might be:
-Candy canes
-Pirouette Cookies
-Flavored creamers
-Andes mints
-Mini marshmallows

It started out pretty and it ended up tasting pretty good---- and the kitchen ended up pretty messy. But that's okay! The boys had fun making their own cocoa and adding the ingredients. Clean up was quick so we headed outside to finish drinking out on the front porch to enjoy the snow.

I can't say enough good things about the boys' clothes from Abercrombie Kids. The boys helped pick them out and they were all about the Star Wars and Avengers pieces. I've never been a big fan of character clothing, but Abercrombie Kids does a great job offering pieces that look great to me and the kids. Kesler's sweatshirt has a storm trooper that is made of flip sequins. It's actually really cool to see it switch from white to black! Knox lives in his camo pants from Abercrombie kids and has them in grey and green. He also chose this Chewbacca tee and wears it daily (which is why it was in the wash for these pics!). Easton loves his hoodies and also really loves these chinos. He's been asking for gray for a while. I've been so impressed with the quality of all our A&F Kids clothes and these were no different! As the temps drop where you live, I'd highly recommend checking out their sweatshirts, sweaters, coats and jeans.

Abercrombie Kids always has great prices and today you can get 20% off of your whole purchase! All bottoms are also BOGO 50% off. Join the A&F Club to get $10 off your purchase of $50+ just for signing up, plus earn points that can be redeemed as credit toward future orders. You will also be signed up for their newsletters which means you are the first to know about sales and new items!

Little things (like a hot chocolate bar or a new tee with their favorite character) are great ideas that are out of the ordinary make for good memories and they get you a few points with your kids too. This hot chocolate bar didn't cost much, it only took about twenty minutes to pull together and to make it cute, and it was a short enough activity that no one cried. :)

I'd definitely encourage you to grab a few minutes with your kids after school one day this season and do something different. Have hot cocoa, cut out paper snowflakes or frost a few store-bought cookies. You'll be so proud of yourself for doing it and that also goes a long way!

Have you tried Abercrombie Kids for your kiddos yet?
